Our partner Metroland Media just released the results of a new study on community newspaper readership in Ontario, Canada. The findings are surprising: despite volatility in recent years, the appetite for local news remains high.

The key finding of the study (carried out by Brandspark International in partnership with Metroland Media) is that 75% of Ontarians surveyed have read at least one of the last four issues of their local community newspaper. And surprisingly, 87% of young adults surveyed are reading as much or more community newspapers than they did last year.
This report reaffirms the strength of community newspapers in Canada. As we’ve written before, community newspapers have a higher readership in Canada than in the US.
Still think print is dead? Clearly the jury is still out on that.
