The brain behind the formation of the hospital, back in the 60’s, Dr SMS Mody really believed that it was possible to have a superior heart care centre, at par with international standards in India. As a student pursuing medicine at the Royal College of Physicians, Dr. Mody went on to become a Fellow of the Royal Physicians, Edinburgh. He came back to India with a zeal and commitment to serve his fellow Indians and provide them with effective and modern cardiac care services.
In the late 50’s and early 60’s, the field of Cardiology wasn’t quite as well explored as it is today. As a matter of fact, there were no exclusive heart care centres to be found in Pune.
